Frugal Friday Family Fun

Spring is approaching and there are lots of ways to be frugal and still have some great time as a family. Last May we invested in a Zoo Membership and boy has it paid off. The Sedgwick County Zoo has a variety of different Membership plans that might fit your family’s needs, all ranging in price, but all very affordable. (If you aren't near Wichita, check with your local zoo, I'll bet there are some great deals to be had if you buy a membership.)

Since we are a family of 3 and have one under the age of 3 we went with the Single Plus Membership, $55 for an entire year. This plan allows you to have one guest each time you visit the zoo and kids 3 and under are free! Since it is $10/adult regular admission this pass paid for itself after 6 visits, or 3 visits if our whole family goes. We certainly visited the zoo 6 times in the first two months we had our membership.

The reason why I love our zoo membership is because it gives our family something to do outside the house and since we’ve already paid for it doesn’t cost us any more money. The zoo allows you bring your lunch inside, so make the most of these beautiful spring days and have a picnic while you are at it.

Another perk about having a membership is on days when there are long lines you can usually bypass them because there are always zoo staff helping to get those with memberships in quickly! Having a zoo membership has allowed us to stroll through the zoo at our pleasure we aren’t pressured to see everything to get our money out of our trip. This is nice especially when you have a little one, we can take it easy and only see a few animals each time we visit.

Don’t forget that during the summer the zoo has Wet-N-Wild Days during those hot afternoons, yet another perk! So go for it, visit the Sedgwick County Zoo today to get your Zoo Membership! Also if you purchase a membership online use this promotional code CHILD09 to recieve two free child guess passes on top of your membership.
